Snape Signals is an engineering consultancy specialising in the
development of algorithms and electronics for processing signals and data. The
consultancy covers three areas:
·
Signal and Image Processing
·
Pattern Recognition
·
Data Mining
Examples of past commissions are:
·
Enhancement of ultrasound images of welded stainless steel
components
·
Development of beam spread deconvolution methods for ultrasound
imaging
·
Locating cell phones by analysis of their signals
·
Noise robust in-car speech recognition
·
Data visualisation software for commercial data mining
applications
·
Computer recognition of the behaviour of an individual person.
·
Automated recognition of the semantic content of documents
·
Recognition of wine origin from chemical analysis.
·
Detection of leaks in water distribution pipes using acoustic
signature methods
A typical commission to Snape Signals starts with a brief by the
customer on the signal or data analysis task. The customer often provides some
sample data that are evaluated by Snape Signals. Algorithm and system development then starts. The resulting
algorithms are delivered to the customer as written specifications and computer
code. If needed, electronic hardware for data collection and processing can be
developed by Snape Signals and supplied to the customer.
The work is primarily done by Dr Graham Tattersall, About Graham Tattersall . Snape Signals also
has a collaboration agreement with the University of East Anglia, so that a
larger team of suitably skilled engineers can be brought together when needed.
